Down Surf does not ask who you are. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The only thing we receive is the video link you choose to submit, and we delete it together with the prepared file within 15 minutes.
Down Surf (the website, the installable web app and the Android app with package name com.prmedia.downsurf, together the "Service") is operated by PR Media LLC, 1001 S Main St Ste 500, Kalispell, MT 59901-5635, United States ("we", "us", "our"). PR Media LLC is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at mail@prmedia.io.
Down Surf lets you save a copy of a publicly available video or its audio from a social media or video website, using a link you provide. Our server fetches the media from that website on your request, prepares it in the format you pick, and sends the file to your device.
When you tap the eye or paste a link, the link is sent to our server so the video can be found and prepared. We use it only to complete that request.
The Service reads your clipboard only at the moment you tap the eye, and never in the background. Your device reads the clipboard; the app looks for a web link in what was copied and sends only that link to our server. Anything else on your clipboard stays on your device and is discarded. On Android 12 and later, the system shows a notice each time an app reads the clipboard. On iPhone, iPad and in some browsers, your device asks you to allow pasting first.
Like any website, our server automatically receives technical information with each request: your IP address, the date and time, the requested address, the result of the request, and your browser or app type (user agent). We use it to deliver the Service, to limit abuse (for example, too many requests from one address), to keep the Service secure and to fix errors.
The video or audio file you request is stored on our server only for as long as needed to deliver it to you, and is deleted automatically within 15 minutes.
Files you save are stored where you choose: your browser's downloads folder, or, in the Android app, the location you pick in the system share sheet (for example Files, Gallery or another app). The Android app keeps a temporary copy in its private cache, which the system can clear at any time and which is removed when you uninstall the app. The web app may store its own interface files in your browser so it opens faster; this contains no personal information.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making, and we do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to anyone.

All traffic between your device and our server is encrypted with HTTPS (TLS). Media files are held in a private temporary folder and deleted automatically, access to the server is restricted, and requests are rate-limited. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we keep the data we hold to a minimum so there is very little that could be exposed.
We are based in the United States and our servers may be located in a different country from yours. Where personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses with our providers.
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live, you have the right to ask us for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. California residents also have the right to know, delete and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights; we do not sell or share personal information. Residents of other US states with privacy laws have comparable rights.
To make a request, email mail@prmedia.io with the subject "Privacy request". Because we have no accounts, include the approximate date and time you used the Service and your IP address if you know it, so we can find any log entries. We reply within 30 days (45 days where California law allows). You may also complain to your local data protection authority, for example your EU supervisory authority or the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
You do not need to do anything for links and files: they delete themselves within 15 minutes. Server logs delete themselves within 14 days. To have log entries removed sooner, email us as described above. Uninstalling the Android app removes all app data from your device.
Down Surf is a tool. We do not host, store long-term, index or publish any videos, and we do not promote any content. You are responsible for what you download. Save only content you own, content you have permission to save, or content you are otherwise legally allowed to copy, and respect the terms of the website that hosts it. Do not use the Service to infringe copyright or anyone's privacy. Private, age-restricted, paid or protected content is not supported. Some websites may be unavailable in the Service.
Copyright owners can send notices to mail@prmedia.io with the subject "Copyright notice", identifying the work and the links concerned. We respond promptly and can block specific sources from the Service.
Video links, thumbnails and titles come from third-party websites. When the app shows a thumbnail, your device loads that image directly from the website hosting it, which can see your IP address, like any image on the web. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.
We may update this policy when the Service or the law changes. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use personal data, we will make it clearly visible in the Service before it takes effect.
